When i first came to live in penhill from lydiard park with my mum and brother we were babies and my mum was a very young widow. We had a lovely new house on the drive a lot of the estate was not built so over the next few years we watched it grow, explored it, got told off by the local “bobby on the beat” for playing on the building site, he gave us all 10 minutes to get home then came and told us off in front of our mums. Neighbours talked and looked out for each other, the new school was a large place to us 5yr olds. We behaved….or else !! Lots of memories and stories sadly no photos.
