Behind the Scenes at Aladdin

Feb 7th, 2012 | By | Category: Penhill News

Penhill Players this year performed Aladdin. I went to St Peter‟s Church on several occasions beforehand for a sneak preview at rehearsals and what fun it was too. Abby, the Director, was full of energy and encouragement to the “troops”. Richard her co-director was also Widow Twanky and showed us why he has been treading the boards for 21 years. He was born to entertain. They all did that in their own marvellous way. Children and adults doing what they could to make this year‟s panto a great show for packed audiences to join in the fun. I was amazed at the spirit and quiet energy they have, even the minor mishaps that always happen at such things did not stop or dampen their spirits. I saw few nerves, but everyone was settling into their roles and helping each other where and when they could. If any talent scouts pop along they will marvel at some of the hidden gems I saw.
I counted nine “stars” on the stage when they took a bow at the end of the first dress rehearsal. There were also eight child villagers and seventeen other adults as part of the back up team. WELL DONE !!!! Some of the people I spoke to were Luke, Karl, Abby, Richard, Stacey, Eddie, Josh, Jacob, Ross, Helena.. There were so many volunteers enjoying the hard work involved. Without them we would not have a panto. I hope you enjoyed the show. I certainly enjoyed watching some of the preparations. “Break a leg” Penhill Players, long may you continue to entertain us and grow !!!!
Fond wishes to you all…………Marilyn La’Mude x
The Penhill Players staged their annual pantomime Aladdin, at St Peter‟s Church hall on the 13th and 14th January, there were large attendances, some who had their own family members taking part. There was plenty of family fun and laughs along the way. It was the first Penhill Players pantomime I‟d seen and I certainly enjoyed it. The scenery, the costumes and the actual storyline were all well put together. The cast were funny and talented and what with treats for the children as well, the audiences really enjoyed it. Well done to the cast and all involved. M Lane.
